Dream Effects: Frustration that fades into amusement.
Warnings: N/A

[Heat. Silence. A lot of sand, and one frustrated puppy. Zack is far from the most patient man on the planet now, but it was even worse at the time this dream seems to be taking place, since he's at least three years younger and in the purple cloth of a Second Class SOLDIER uniform. What is he doing in the sand, you might ask? Well, he's stalking something. Something that seems to be very adept at avoiding the senses of a fifteen year old, and he kicks the sand in frustration.]

"Focus, Zack. You won't find your target if you don't focus."

[Zack reaches up to his head, and the desert fades away in blocks of green and strings of zeroes and ones as he raises a visor from his eyes. It's a standard ShinRa VR training room now, made for SOLDIER use, observation booth included. It's this booth that Zack huffs up at, or rather, the man inside. Angeal stares down at his student, face blank in the face of Zack's pout. It's obvious to anyone watching that they've done this song and dance dozens of times before, and Angeal has found himself quite resistant to the pouts of a puppy.

Zack, however, is far from deterred.]

Hey, I'd like to see you chase one of these things all day and see where your focus goes! [Arms crossed over his chest, he levels his best pout at Angeal. It's quite a sight to see, and Angeal, for all his experience in dealing with Zack's pouts, eventually caves and takes a second VR visor and heads for the doorway. Zack pumps a fist in triumph, turning and lowering his visor as Angeal comes into the room and the desert returns, along with the elusive quarry Zack has been told to find. After a moment, it finally appears again.

It's not what you'd expect, really, being that cacti normally don't dance and spin around on one leg while avoiding military personell. But since when has anything to do with Zack been normal? Especially when it comes to training the pup in sneaking up on his opponent. Even with Angeal's guidance, it takes Zack a while to get up behind the Cactuar, having to step both slowly and lightly to avoid giving himself away.

He does get there, though, and before Angeal can stop him, Zack pounces. He cries out as he leaps, and this gives the Cactuar a great deal of warning to scurry away before Zack can crash down on top of it. It does just that, too, skittering across the dunes as Zack crashes onto the sand, and the pup shakes his head to clear it while Angeal shakes his head.]

"...Let's try something that doesn't run so fast."

[Zack only snickers as he nods, allowing Angeal to help him from the sand as they begin to try again.]

[With the sun behind him, Zack is blinking awake as the Dreamberry continues to record, and after a minute he snorts in amusement and shakes his head against the pillow. That had been a long time ago, but even now, it's a fond memory. Without noticing the device recording, Zack rolls over onto his other side and...

Falls off the couch with a yelp. It takes a moment, but he finally comes back into the camera view and sighs, rubbing the back of his head. That had been quite the wake up call. But before Zack can stand up or even get back on the couch, there's a small whine from just off screen. Zack's face falls, and he reaches over to what has to be the chair Sephiroth normally sits in.]

I know, boy. I miss him too.

[After a moment, Zack stands and takes the Dreamberry from where it was, unknowingly ending the feed.]
