CHARACTER
Name: Jadesprite
Age: 13
Canon: Homestuck
Canon Point: After sending the Royal Derringer to Derse.
History:
Here is a link to a short history of Jadesprite, as well as the link to
Alpha Jade (whose dreamself Jadesprite once was) and
Homestuck in general.
Personality:
Since Jade Harley and Jadesprite are essentially two halves of the same person, they share a few similar traits. Jadesprite, like Jade, cares deeply about her friends. She always wants to protect them, and watches over them when she can. She is optimistic and loving, writing supportive messages on John's wall to encourage him to think better of himself and to wake up on Prospit. Like Jade, she would gladly help any of her friends that was in danger -- after all, it was a combination of Jade and Jadesprite (or her former dreamself) that saved John from peril. Her heart goes out to anyone with a sympathetic cause, and she attempts to be nice to most everyone, as long as they are nice to her.
However, they are not exactly the same. While Jade has seen her share of hardships, Jadesprite has never had a hard life at all. She cannot bear to think of unhappy situations; she blocks all memories of John's "death" and Prospit's destruction out of her mind for what can be surmised as years. Instead, she chooses to focus on simpler things -- the happiness of her new friends and a small streak of determination that will help her overcome. Jadesprite might not be able to charge after Jack Noir, but she's slowly learning to be useful in other ways, things that might be more important than trying to be the big damn hero. She's uncertain but willing to learn, at least from the most recent updates.
When forced to confront a situation, Jadesprite also differs from Jade. She is not a warrior, or a person skilled in marksmanship. She is a frightened and timid individual, having spent her life surrounded by friendly people with no idea of how to come to terms with suddenly feeling useless. The slightest insult or misconstrued sentence can send her into tears, and she is easily upset. Needless to say, she doesn't handle criticism well -- when Jade insults her, she just cries more. Jadesprite tends to feel utterly useless when compared to the Alpha Jade -- after all, who needs a Jadesprite when you have a strong, capable Jade Harley wandering around? And things that are too large for her to handle scare her; she is terribly frightened of the Green Sun, as well as her current predicament of turning into a sprite. Jadesprite just doesn't know how to handle overwhelming situations. She wants to die because she feels like she has no purpose until the very end of Act 5 -- she hates her life as a sprite and hates the fact that she was created as a creature meant to destroy Jack Noir. But like Jade, she hasn't given up yet. Even though she cries a lot, she's realizing slowly that she can be of use, if given the right opportunity. There is more to her than meets the eye, and Jadesprite is slowly willing to open herself up to helping more and more. It is a slow progression, learning self-worth, but even though she talked about dying, she's not dead yet.
Abilities/Strengths:
- Power of the Green Sun rendering her almost omnipotent
- Ability to teleport objects across long distances
- Sprite Powers, presumably, a knowledge of the inner workings of the game of SBURB and the ability to translate the riddles provided for the player in order to get to the next step.
- She can fly! But mostly because she has no legs. It's a traditional sprite thing.
- Presumably she also still has the other traditional sprite ability of being able to protect the player using a blast of energy -- in this case, it's slightly irradiated
- Acts as if she's part-dog sometimes, particularly when upset (this is both a strength [she's very loyal] and a weakness).
Weaknesses:
- Timid and easily scared
- Cries easily -- almost at the mere surprise of something, most definitely in happiness or out of terror
- Feels utterly useless in most situations and will take some prodding to actually get her to try being brave (though she wants to, she's working on this)
- Easily trusting, as long as the person seems nice!
- Acts as if she's part-dog, letting the woofs and barks enter her speech which makes it a little hard to understand sometimes between all of the sobbing
- Doesn't know the full extent of her powers, and as such isn't able to really use them all (so some of them are a mystery).
ARCANARUM
Story:
Prince and the PauperStory Character: Prince Edward VI
Plans: Only because having to go live in the streets will make her cry. Also we will be focusing on the duality of Jade and Jadesprite as individuals, and this will provide a way for Jadesprite to prove that she is useful instead of being a completely 'useless' or superficial princess (prince?). She'll have to do things for herself in order to get along, which will hopefully help her to gain self-confidence.

Third Person:
Sometimes, a girl just had to chase some birds.
Jadesprite took off after the bluebird in the park, scampering along behind it. Something inside of her was telling her that it looked delicious, but she didn't really think it was all that true. Besides, she definitely could find better things to do with the bluebird. Like pet it! And sing with it! Yeah, those were great ideas. Though the bird didn't seem to like that idea too much; it flew off as soon as she started toward it, leading towards a large amount of initial confusion. Things had never done this at home. Why was it running away when she only wanted to be friendly?
Jade might be proud of me if I catch it! With a determined nod, she floated along after it, following it throughout the park. It landed and chirped at her as she darted for it, sniffling to cover up tears as it got away. "No, please come back!" She called after it, but it didn't seem to hear her response. Finally, it got too far away for her to even bother. Sitting down in the middle of the grass, Jadesprite began to cry. Stupid, of course. Who could catch a bird? Not her, obviously. Jade might be able to, she was so cool and strong and bra--
chirp
Jadesprite looked up. The bird was sitting in front of her, tilting its head curiously in her directions. "O-oh..." she reached out a finger, petting it gently on the head. The bird chirped happily, standing still for her. "Nice bird..." Finally, something she could do right! Petting birds! Jade would be so proud of her, she could hardly-- "Woof!" Her excitement came out in a bark and the bird hopped away, flying back to a nearby tree.
Jadesprite cried again.
