There are two reasons why I'm upset that Arthur didn't believe Merlin about Agravaine. First of all, as far as I can remember, Arthur has always regretted not listening to Merlin's advice. Second of all, didn't Arthur already doubt Agravaine during episode 4x07? I thought Arthur said that the traitor must either be Agravaine or Gaius. And then he discovered it wasn't Gaius... I'm no genius but I'd at least be a little suspicious of my uncle by then.
And then the Gwen thing. I'm a Merthur shipper but even if I wasn't I wouldn't want Gwen and Arthur to happen. She has been exiled by the man she loves and threatened to death if she should ever return and still she'd risk her life for these people of Camelot who didn't even spare her a look as she left (Merlin and Elyan, I'm looking at you guys). And she even believes that she deserves this. She's lost her home, her job, her friends because of a kiss! How is everyone fine with that? Gwen is just too nice for him.
I have to admit, though, I really loved the princess. I was thinking she was probably evil (because it seems to be a theme that all women are evil in this show) but she's not! She stood up for Merlin and is nice. She wasn't even super upset that she was dumped. I have to admit, in her place, I might have been a little/lot more miffed at the double signals Arthur was sending. Why aren't there more good female characters on this show?
Am I the only one who is shocked that Merlin dropped the whole affair about invading troops. I mean, he knows that Aggravaine has taken the map, he just can't prove it. So now that Arthur doesn't believe him, he's just going to sit on his hands and wait? He's known for ages about Morgana and Aggravaine so why won't he tell Arthur anything! Or at least, I don't know, go stop the troops. And why has he left Gwen in the forest. I'm hoping he at least fully healed her (and why isn't Gwen confused that she isn't bleeding anymore?). And speaking of Merlin being completely useless despite apparently being very powerful, was he just going to let Gwen get shot by that arrow? What if it had killed her? He's lucky she's amazingly fast and was able to avoid a huuuuge shitload of people who are professional hunters somehow. So I end this episode upset at Merlin for being useless and Arthur for being a douche. The person who has won the most love this episode? Princess whatshername.
I need more good Merthur moments. Arthur being abusive to Merlin does not count.
