☄General Questions
☄I know nothing about Star Wars, let alone Knights of the Old Republic. Can I still join?
Of course! For those unfamiliar with the Star Wars universe as a whole, we strongly recommend checking out the general Star Wars, Knights of the Old Republic,Jedi and Sith pages at the counted_stars wiki as well as the Setting page. Wookieepedia, the fan-run Star Wars encyclopedia, is also a great source for information.

☄How does time work?
One week in game = one week in real time. So, roughly, one day in game = one day in real life.
☄Is there an Activity Check?
Yes. Since counted_stars is a plot-heavy game, we would like to make sure characters are participating. The Activity requirement is two pieces per month, with the pieces being either a log tag/entry, an entry at datapads or a thread with 5+ comments (either in a journal thread or action tags) made by your character.
That means you can have any combination of the the following:

--+5 comments / log entry/tag
--datapads post / log entry/tag

☄When does Activity Check go up?
Activity check will be posted the first of each month and will be open for one week afterwards. Failure to respond will result in an automatic drop unless the player is on hiatus.
☄But wait! What happens if I don't make all of the activity for the month?
Don't worry! We have a "save" system in place for this. You may ask for one save per character, should you not make activity. If you are saved, you must provide three links of activity, rather than two, for the following month.
☄How does the Journal system run?
Each character is given a datapad, or hand-held console, upon arriving in Coruscant. The journal/first person posts may be in either text, audio, or video. Privacy filters work, and we ask that the player specify if the post is hackable/unhackable to prevent any confusion.
The journals comm is datapads.
☄How about Logs?
Logs are pretty standard. The profile page of the logs comm, thestarmaps, has a handy HTML box for you to use when posting! And please tag your entries!!
☄Character Questions
☄What types of characters are allowed?
Characters from any fictional medium (books, video games, anime/manga, comics, live action, etc.) are allowed! This includes fictional representations of historical figures/countries/etc. Due to the universe, non-humanoid characters (robots, talking cats, et al) are also very much applicable. At this time, we are not allowing non-fictional characters. (Though the mods may actually have to cry at rejecting a Tim Gunn or Steven Colbert Jedi Master application).
Child characters are also acceptable, though we ask muns to be mindful of the setting. Parody characters ( ie Harry Potter from A Very Potter Musical ) are not appable, although we may make exceptions on a case by case basis so long as you contact us before applying.
☄Can I app a character from Star Wars?
STAR WARS CHARACTERS IN A STAR WARS GAME ARE YOU MAD?!
Yeah that's totally cool! Characters from any Star Wars time period or series are more than welcomed, all we ask is that if you are considering apping a character from either the Knights of the Old Republic video games or comics, email the mods first.
☄Can I app an Original Character?
Yes, with some stipulations. Check out the Original Character Application post for more info.
☄Is there a character limit?
Currently, the character limit is six per mun. For muns who have met two consecutive activity checks and would like to request an extra character slot, they may do so here.
☄Can I play more than one character from a canon?
Yes sir or ma'am! You can play up to two from a series. They must not be too close in canon, i.e. best friends, siblings, parent/child.
☄Is this game Alternate Universe or Original Universe?
All characters must be apped as if they were arriving from their Original Universe. Canon AUs (such as Reboot!Kirk and TOS!Kirk) may be considered on a case by case basis, be sure to ask for mod approval before applying.
☄Can I bring in a character with development / CR from another game?
Sure can! Just fill out the specified sections on the application regarding it.
☄Can I canon update my character once they're in game?
Yes! Just fill out the Canon Update Request form and the mods will process it the same time as applications. Upon a canon update, the character will go into a coma-like state for a period of one week and will then wake up in a kolto tank, much like if a character has died. During canon update, the character will return home at the exact moment that they left with no memories of their time in game at all. It will feel more like a dream they can't quite remember until they return to the game.
☄How does my character arrive in this universe?
Revan uses the Force to bend space and time in order to summon them for his invasion. It doesn't matter if your character is a soldier or not, Revan has parts for all of them to play.
Characters may either be introduced as brand new to the Star Wars universe (for example, if you do not know what job they would fill) or having arrived a few months prior (if you have a set role for them in mind already)

☄What if my character doesn't wear underwear? (Yes, this is Frequently Asked)
If your character likes the breeze between their knees, they will arrive wearing this horridly ugly jumpsuit get up.
☄Where does my character live?
All characters wake up in an apartment complex on Coruscant upon arriving in the universe. They have nothing but the underwear they're wearing, a datapad, and the access card for said apartment. All characters will have at least one roommate in order to help jumpstart CR. Roommate assignments are here!
☄Can I decide who my character lives with?
If you are apping in with a canonmate or a character yours has previous CR with than it is acceptable (just leave a note in your application). However, you will only get to choose one of your roommates, and each apartment holds up to four. We're trolls like that.
☄How does my character earn a living?
Depending on what Sect they join, your character can find a variety of options for employment. You can also see the Jobs page for inspiration if you wish.
☄Sects?
The role and side your character serves during the Jedi Civil War. For more information, see the Sects page.
☄Can I change my character's Sect throughout the course of the game?
Definitely! Re-do your taken comment to reflect this, please!
☄Can my character bring in special abilities/weapons from their canon?
Yes and no. We'd prefer it if the characters' abilities were adapted to the Star Wars universe. For more information see the wiki page with the previously translated abilities or email the mods if you have specific questions. Any possessions your character holds in their homeworld may not be brought along for the ride. Sorry :(
☄Can my character kill/be killed by another character?
Yes. This is, afterall, a war game. Just make sure to get consent from the mun of the other character.
☄What about blowing up buildings and shit?
We're fine with this so long as if it's a grandscale or game impacting decision (in example, your character blowing up the Jedi Temple on Coruscant) you run it by the mods (email theoldcoots@gmail.com) first.
☄What happens if my character dies?
If your character is killed in-game, Revan will be able to use his Force Godmod abilities to bring them back to life three times. If it goes over the limit, your character stays dead, so make sure you choose wisely. However, for large plot-related events, deaths do not count against your limited lifespan.
Starting post January 23rd, all deaths will be considered permanent unless the player wishes for their character's CR to strike a deal with Malak for their resurrection. This deal must be worked out with the mods prior to character resurrection, and will have nasty consequences for the characters making the deal. Make sure to have mun approval from all parties before proceeding!
There is the option for people to loot your character's remains, since the body dissolves something like this after dying. Unless your character has someone they trust to hold their things for them, it's a free for all and the items will be lost/destroyed/up for grabs.
☄So, my character has died. What now?
Good question! If you choose to have your character die in-game, and have struck a deal with Malak, you will not be able to play them for one week, starting from their time of death. Death is serious and should be treated as such. When they are brought back to life, they will find themselves in a kolto tank on Coruscant, without any scars/tattoos/or markings that they would have held prior to dying.
☄What is death like?
Intimidating and possibly horrifying, depending. If you're Force-sensitive, you'll remember being part of, well, everything, but that's about it. Those who aren't Force-sensitive will just remember death. They can try to remember where they were when they were dead, but it's a hazy memory. Your character will just remember being alone and gone when they wake up.
☄What happens to dropped characters?
Up to the player of said characters. They can be sent back to their home world/time, on a covert mission, on a planet with no communications, or killed in action. If no reason is specified, assume the character has been killed during a battle.
☄Can I apply for a character that's either been killed or dropped?
You bet!
☄What if I want to re-app a character I dropped?
Just provide new samples in your application, and you're golden!
☄How does my character travel from planet to planet?
As the game unfolds, more planets will be available to travel to. If your character does not have a ship or the necessary piloting abilities to man it, feel free to NPC commercial flights.

☄Can I reserve a character?
Definitely! Check out our Reserves page for more info.
☄When are applications accepted?
Whenever the mods are able to read and process them. If you haven't heard back on your app within a week, please pm the mod account theoldcoots!
☄What if my application is rejected?
It's super de duper highly mega ultra unlikely that we will reject an app. Some apps may be asked for revisions, but as long as you're willing to work with us, we're willing to work with you to make sure your character is accepted!
☄Can I link to a log that my character was in for the third person sample?
Sure thing! As long as it is a prose log that shows your character in action, we are a-okay with it~
☄What about the first person sample?
We would like for everyone to to write out a first person sample that would be posted to the datapads rather than having a link provided.
☄Is fourth-walling allowed?
Breaking the fourth-wall in terms of setting or universe is absolutely fine! However, if you want to fourth-wall a character, it is up to the mun, so be sure to ask permission first!
☄Does the game have a set end date?
Yes. counted_stars is a plot intensive game with a planned conclusion. At the present moment, we are aiming for an endgame around January, 2013. Applications will tenatively close in October 2013.
☄ Is there mandatory events?
A few, yes. Fear not though, all mandatory events will be warned for well in advance as well as last over a week so there is ample time to participate.
☄Is there a place I can read up on what's happened during the game, plot-wise?

☄What if I have a problem with another player?
Talk to the player first. Pleasepleaseplease. If it's an issue that persists, don't be afraid to contact the mods at this post here or at the mod email: theoldcoots@gmail.com. We will need proof (chat logs, posts, etc.) to support any claims before we intervene.
