Gloatings of a fiber slut

Mwahaha ... today the book fairy delivered my very own copy of Baines 'Linen Hand Spinning and Weaving.' I am planning a lovely, genteel little orgy involving it, me, a few pots of tea, some ankle braces, a little concertina music ...

Do I see hand-spun linen lace thread in my/our future?

Yum!

Way, WAY in our future, maybe. That will take a lot of practice and very high quality raw material. But it could happen.

Ohh, sounds lovely! I got hedgehog handworks catalog recently and there are a few linen books in there I'm thinking about getting, just 'cause'.

Know anything about reeds? Like which kinds are best for corset making? I've got a crapload growing on the farm and should rush out and cut some before I mow them all down, to experiment. Of course, they'll all be back next spring! Heh.

I've never used them myself and all I know I learned from Janet Arnold (on whom be peace) but hey, I'll try anything once. How big around are they?

Sure, but you will have to bring your own German shepherd, I'm afraid I don't have enough to go around.
