I've said it before, but having to put down our pug Napoleon was one of the hardest things I had to do. I understand where you are coming from and you have my sympathy.
I'm trying to write this kind of quickly at workwebcowgirlFebruary 27 2008, 16:06:16 UTC
I don't know about dogs, but cats die in an ugly and painful way if you try to let it "happen naturally."
My dog was in her stroke state (wandering around the backyard lost in the weeds) for several months, so perhaps JJ will hold out for quite some time.
On the other hand, if she's really distressed ... is life really much of a gift to her right now? ("Life remains a blessing/Although you cannot bless.") I think people are much more addicted to the thought of every minute of life being precious than animals are.
(PS: it might be good to get a baby gate or two to block her out of places she shouldn't go.)
Our dog Ricky got into that state at 17 and also had bad teeth as well. In the end putting him down was the best thing as he was in a lot of pain and couldn't move without crashing into things. It was sad but he had had a very good life.
