Life continues to be busy. I've done another day of relief at the same school, as well as half a day of meetings there on Monday to get to know the teachers and meet the classes that I would potentially be taking over. I'm also getting ready to sell some of my old costumes and new handmade accessories at a bellydancing event on Saturday night, so ( Read more... )

I have a feeling this whole year is going to be stupidly busy. What have you been up to?

Oh, I have a whole box full of half-finished projects! A lot of it hasn't been touched in years. I'm terrible at not finishing things. I've been making accessories to sell for a couple of years now. I don't do a lot of it, because it doesn't really pay well, but it's fun and it gives me an excuse to play with pretty things :)

What kind of craft do you do?

I've never been able to learn how to knit. I don't know why, but it just doesn't stick in my head no matter who teaches me or how many times I try. It does seem like it would be very soothing though :)

i total get what you are saying about liturgy. I went to a funeral once of someone I loved very much and he was really atheist and the person doing the funeral went on and on about how he was in heaven now and that made me really angry

I'd love to do this meme

How awful- funerals are usually bad enough without the extra reason to be angry :( The funeral I mentioned was for my second cousin, and although she wasn't super religious she was Christian so it made sense for there to be a bit of God stuff. The actual amount was just really overwhelming though.

Your letter for the meme is M.

I've never seen Run Lola Run! I remember hearing about it here and there, though. That's nice you speak some German! I'm rubbish at languages lol.

Oooh libraries. Me tooo. Not so much public libraries as school libraries, like university libraries, though. Those are safe and cozy and fun in a way an NYPL branch could never be!

I'm okay but not great at languages, and my German is pretty rusty these days! Except for travel, there's just no opportunity to practise since I left school. Run Lola Run is definitely worth a look, if you can watch movies with subtitles. I think there's a dubbed version too but dubs tend to annoy me ( ... )

Thank you. That was very interesting.

I agree about liturgy at e.g. funerals. ... I don't mind it too much if the deceased was VERY religious because then it's a big part of the life we're remembering. But otherwise I hate it totally.

And I agree about Lola.

Could I have a letter please?

Your letter is K :)

Do you watch a lot of foreign films? I could use some recommendations.

Thank you!

I don't know about a LOT of foreign films. IRecently my favourites have been English-language. You might like:

* All That Jazz (not to be confused with Cabaret)

* Synechdoche New York, and probably anything else by Charlie Kaufman

* Jésus de Montréal

* Memento

* Year of the Dog
