So here I am on town pass in my parents' hotel room in San Antonio, TX. I haven't been released from basic training yet. I go straight from here to tech school at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA to learn Chinese. It's weird being in military mode then coming out here to the hotel and being all laid-back and then having to go back

I am very proud of you. I am sorry that we only briefly conveyed our greetings yesterday, but it is very understandable. I have been somewhat under the proverbial weather, anyhow, and have not been online for long periods of time this week. I am happy that you are on your way to having more adventures.
While I am sure you will have work waiting for you in California, I pray that you do get some "down time" from all of your rigorous training.
