Summary: There’s more than one way to meet a guy, as Jeongmin finds out.
The very first time Jeongmin meets Youngmin is in a busy street in the middle of Hongdae. He’s having fun club-hopping with his friends, Hyunseong and Donghyun, when a blond blur streaks past and bumps into him by accident. The only word he manages to catch as the teenager shouts them over his shoulder is “Sorry.”. Twenty minutes later, as he rummages in his pocket to buy a bottle of water for Hyunseong, he realises his wallet is gone.
Standing confusedly in the middle of the convenience store aisle, Jeongmin tries to retrace his steps mentally, wondering where he might have dropped it, when a hand taps his shoulder lightly from behind.
“Hey, you dropped your wallet.”
Behind him is the prettiest guy that Jeongmin has ever met. He has slightly messy blond hair and an awkward smile as he holds out Jeongmin’s weatherbeaten wallet.
“Thanks, I thought I’d lost it or it got stolen and then I wouldn’t be able to buy water for my friends and---”
Jeongmin gradually trails off at the stranger’s chuckling, his cheeks reddening slightly as he realises that he was rambling.
“It’s cool. I’m Youngmin. You?”
“Jeongmin.”
The two of them end up sitting by the roadside and talking about their lives - Jeongmin finds out that Youngmin has a twin brother that he dotes on, and Youngmin discovers that Jeongmin has a liking for One Direction songs (“One Direction, seriously?”).
They exchange numbers at about three in the morning, before Donghyun calls Jeongmin to help him bring Hyunseong, who is slightly (okay make that very) drunk, home.
When Jeongmin finally reaches home around two hours later, his phone vibrates with an incoming text.
"To tell you the truth, I stole your wallet in the club.” - Youngmin.
Jeongmin’s still slightly drunk, so he simply blinks at his phone, then types out a short reply and presses ‘send’.
“Beep-Beep.”
Youngmin’s at home, sitting up on his bed and leaning next to the window when he receives the text. He doesn’t really know if he wants to open it, but well - everything is worth a shot, right? His fingers slowly tap on the ‘open’ button, and the screen transitions slowly to show the simple reply that literally causes his heart to stutter:
“I figured as much. So, how does dinner tomorrow sound?”
