It's the sneaking around and muted kisses around corners that takes its toll on their relationship. He was getting tired, and Jaejoong was getting restless in the whole Jaejoong way, subconsciously clingy and insecure as he dropped hypothetical situations and requested love nothings to confirm his status.

It's also the pictures of Jaejoong going out with his friends that threaten to break him under the weight of jealousy. Truth be told, he was terribly possessive, a trait that Jaejoong had fed and indulged with a perverse fondness that worked to boost his own ego. The man was as vain as he was beautiful, a sprite basking and drinking in the crazed daze of ensnared men before forking their hearts out to go along with his sweet tea.

Lying in his bed in the opulent hotel surrounded by gilded furniture and crystalline glasses, he sighed as the five hundred thread count Egyptian cotton melted around his tired limbs. Complimentary carbonated water and sheet thin chocolates tainted with rum (things he had no fancy or inclination for) laid untouched on the marble table in the middle of the room. Such arrangements were times better than his own back home, but really, nothing short from the best for the international superstar. The man laid there, thinking about the things he would give for the sour, soggy kimchi Jaejoong had made, stored at the back of his fridge.

Ah, Jaejoong, Jaejoong, Jaejoong. The man crossed his legs with a frown, his mood completely ruined now with the thought of the man.

While eight years was a long time, the sex had never gotten stale. However, he had been distracted after a recent queer encounter that was incapable of explanation.

He had been thrusting deep into the other when he suddenly found himself looking at themselves in periphery; at the sight of himself driving the other man into the bed. For the first time he wasn't led by his depraved needs during copulation, and he couldn't tear his eyes off how Jaejoong looked; eyes unfocused, jaw slack, lascivious and gaping, consciousness dedicated to reaching orgasm.

He never had difficultly imagining Jaejoong with other men or women for the matter, and the ease in conjuring the image always put him in a foul mood. Jaejoong's body was perfectly thinkable coupled with any warm body, and the sight at how whorish Jaejoong looked under him triggered a spark of disgust within him that quickly grew into a respectably sized flame.

Jaejoong was hedonistic with the inclination towards instant gratification, and the knowledge made the possibility of a betrayal even more plausible, the fear deeply rooted within his consciousness, plaguing him during the waking hours he spent away from the man, nourished by the growing distance between their careers. The pictures circulating online began to seem like evidences that he couldn't ignore, so he collected them secretly, too afraid to outrightly ask about them, yet too careful to expose his excess concern.

It was completely irrational, an absurd jealousy and ludicrous worry that he could not distinguish and identify in his depraved stupor. His reluctance to question the other made it seem like their relationship was unstable and in some ways shaky when reality was in fact far from so.

When tectonic plates shift due to the restless magma, earthquakes occur. Time is then required for the displaced plates to find a new equilibrium or to return to its original position, of which contribute to a series of aftershocks. The lawsuit had made a bigger impact on their coupling than he would admit and while they both had become doubly clingy and increasingly impatient, all they needed was patience to work things out.

But a new compromise was hard to find because Yunho was a very timid man when it came to love. He saw little value in himself, and as a result, took a passive role in relationships. Of the rare times where Yunho would finally muster enough courage to sit Jaejoong down to talk about their situation, he would then vaguely remember that aftershocks were also capable of claiming lives, and suddenly, the way the other man's hands danced about his skin would become incredibly alluring.

-

"I love you," he typed slowly into his phone before sending it across the ocean, his limbs heavy as the monster in his skull slipped fear into his system.

Because of the aftershocks, the last thing to do after an earthquake is to stay indoors. As Yunho's heart beat to the spaces between the reply, he felt an odd sense of desolation as he huddled in the cold open space, clutching his last possessions as he waited for the worse to pass.
