[[Set some time after this.]]

McCoy was lurking down in the lab, pretending to check on some experiments he had running but instead allowing his mind to wander onto other, more worthwhile (and appealing) things. Scrawling down hasty notes every now and then and peering seemingly-intently into a microscope, to any casual observer it would fully ( Read more... )

"Y'know, if you're not really using that microscope, can I use it? I've got a culture that I need to take a peek at," Jo said, friendly, but slightly grumpy. People who weren't pay attention to their work irritated her a bit. WOrk was for work. Playtime, play. That's what her Spock had taught her. She wondered idly if he was still a live. McCoy very nearly had a minor heart attack and hastily scrambled to his feet, moving out of the way without really looking at who the young woman was.

His right eyebrow hitched. She looked...she looked familiar. Disconcertingly so. He worried that he might just have been staring at her a little, so he swiftly cleared his throat and averted his gaze, somewhat thrown. Why did he feel like he should recognise her...?

"Thank you," she said about to slide into the seat, when she noticed him staring at her. Looking down, she didn't have anything staining her uniform...why was he staring at her? She stared right back. Huh...that might be it. "You've got Maw-maw's eyes."

He shook his head slightly, trying to clear it. "I've got...sorry?" He was beginning to get an odd feeling about this. And about her. People from different universes, after all...and she did look very familiar.

...was it possible? Wouldn't he have...well, heard about it if his suspicions were correct?
