The Women's Crusade

Aug 20, 2009 13:07

part of a special NY Times Magazine issue on Saving the World's Women.

Can't think that they chose particularly helpful wording for the title. But the article is good and is currently at the top of the most-emailed list.

Given how e.g. the Children's Crusade turned out, no.

heh. No.

But, also, some of the areas where it would be nice to make progress in women's rights could use that word to stigmatize the whole concept. What were the editors thinking?

Self-congratulatory writing. 'Look at us, we are so progressive and staffed with ethically minded people!'

Reasonable guess. I just don't like their sensitivity. Or lack thereof.

I take it you've changed your name. You also replied to a comment I'd left re: uncling, but I can no longer access your posts to respond, so I'll do it here: yes, we (older folks) like (go gaga about) the succeeding generations. :-) However, I've just passed your parents - grandson provided me with a great-grandchild last summer. Better get busy. :-) Never thought I'd attain this status, actually. Feels good.

Lots of comments missing you on GRRM. Been some activity recently. New guy tried to get a re-read going, only Chucky helped out. But a lot of meta exchanges recently.
