i can't get a hold of chabad to figure out if i can go to seder tonight or not and i'm guessing you can't just show up. and i don't care enough to do anything else so i'm not going to seder at all. oh well

I'm sure you can just sign up. Chabad would never turn a Jew away from a seder. They may not let you pay today because they treat it like Shabbat, but it would be an IOU. And they almost always have a couple of seats left because a lot of people go home for Passover. Have you tried their website?
