Working at a preschool, I'm amazed at the social, emotional and cognitive processes they are capable of at that age. Children seem to have a formulative thought process about being liked and loved by others they pick up at 3 and play out even more at 4 where they are negotiate and articulate their feelings like using toys as bargaining chips in maintaining their friendships with other children.
