STOP SUCKING AND LET ME LOVE YOU, LJ.

from Shinsengumi no Makoto:

- Likely to be the illegitimate son of Toudou Izuminokami (Toudou Takayuki), ruler of the Tsu Domain. This is backed up by the fact that he owned a rather pricey sword that no ordinary roushi could have gotten, which backs up his connection to Takayuki.
- Mother may have been the daughter of a flower shop owner in Komagame. THIS IS UNCERTAIN.
- Said to be somewhat "showy," and had an "Edo breeding" which means he was probably educated and well-mannered / spoken.
- IS ACTUALLY GOOD WITH A SWORD, screw you anime. Trained in the Hokushin Itto Ryu (Hokushin One-handed style), trained at the Genbukan dojo before going to Itou Kashitarou's dojo. He eventually went to Kondou Isami's Shieikan dojo, likely due to his connection with Yamanami Keisuke.
- Was with the Shinsengumi when they first formed, and is said to be the youngest captain (younger than Saitou and Okita).

from wiki:

- His sword was made by Kazusa no suke Kaneshige, who was a swordmaker under the patronage of the Tsu domain.
- Started "taking his meals" at Kondou's dojo in 1862 -- he would have been 17 or 18 at that point.
- Sources claim he may have been involved in Serizawa Kamo's assassination. Peacemaker Kurogane's timeline does not follow this variation; it was Kondou, Hijikata, Okita, and Yamanami who participated in it in the series.
- Ikedaya took place on July 8, 1864.

-- HAHAHAHA. I. oh lord. Y-yeah. ANYWAY.

from Samurai Wiki:
- More general info, extra links, blahblah.
- Toudou actually claimed to be the son of Takayuki.
- Yamanami is 11 years older than him, ftr.
