A whole lot of motivation was needed at this end. It took me most of the afternoon to get half of the yard mowed. I'm doing it with a walk behind, and it's the first time this year. It really should have been done about a week ago but I had to get the mower working. [My own was the third of three that I've serviced this year.] The yard itself probably hasn't been raked in about four years, so this first time required a lot of debris removal. It won't be this bad next week. It looks much better and I feel good for having worked on it, but I wish it were finished.
I wish that I could say that it's been completed. I have worked on it, but this is a large somewhat hilly yard that hasn't been properly raked or de-thatched in about four years. I'm about 2/3rds of the way through that first pass, but it will probably take two or three mowing/raking cycles before it's under control.
In the mean time the dandelions and onion grass are winning. They don't fight fair. They bring in reinforcements overnight while I'm sleeping.
I may need to go out and purchase some heavier equipment. The thought of a bulldozer and several truckloads of macadam has crossed my mind. So has the idea of renting about a half dozen sheep for a couple of weeks.

Seems I can't get either part of that done in my case.

Good job for getting it done the first time of the season... always seems to be the hardest
