I love this sort of news! My beauteous and oft-praised jungle_goddess has been doing quite a bit of container gardening at the house in Lithonia, and I love hearing about her plants flowering and growing.

The cherry blossoms bloomed early in Japan this year. I wonder if they’ll be early in Australia, too.

My first boyhood home was in Belleville, NJ, just north of Newark.
Branch brook Park straddles the border of both and has a very large collection of cherry blossom trees.
More in fact than in Washington, DC.
There's a festival - now - but virtual this year.
The blossoms look like this:

Question - Since Australia is south of the equator, when do the trees blossom?

Beautiful!

We get them blooming in August, usually. It’s interesting how the seasons aren’t exactly 6 months apart (even for, as you mentioned, places on similar-but-opposite latitude).
