he was one of my residents. picture a bunch of RAs sitting with their boss, trying to figure out how to address the problems of a resident who doesn't shower, plays loud music and then leaves his room, harasses lunch ladies and cleaning people, and who smokes in his room on a substance free floor, having just started smoking upon arriving at cornell...
the only real thing i learned in the class is that "mankind" really means "men", because when talking about women, they will be specifically named, usually accompanied by phrases like "misbegotten male". i can send you the textbooks for the class if you want to read them. lord knows i never will!
One of my favorite memories involving you was sitting next to you at a Family and Friends meeting and you were opening a package from your parents. Inside was the largest and gawdiest menorah you had ever seen, and you were laughing so hard that you were crying. I think it took you a good half hour to stop laughing, and by then you had me going pretty badly. Now I'm getting nostalgic!
Thanks for the shout-out!
I have to do this meme now, you know? Succumbing to the peer pressure, I suppose.
That is such a good memory of me to have. I am so glad I'm not the only person who remembers it, because it's a favorite of mine from that year. Apparently I find being Jewish funny, because Peka's first memory of me is throwing Chanukah jelly beans (a jelly belly mix of something like blueberry and coconut) at Rich Russo yelling "don't you know what Chanukah tastes like?!"

I remember wondering how on earth he got into college. He was an odd fellow.

hmm.
What happened to him? I think he was a freshman my senior year so I was *cough* too busy to really delve into his life. What did you do?

That Sponge formal was the absolute best!
Now I'm going to get all nostalgic. I've actually been thinking a lot about Cornell lately. Go figure.
