I would especially like to hear what the Peers have to say about the following question:

Is it pretentious/bad in any other form to have flashes of thought about what I would want my Vigil (should I ever be offered a Peerage) to be like? Who I would want to participate in any ceremonies, etc... Is it bad to want to write the thoughts down so I don ( Read more... )

Frankly, the only planning I did was the fabric for my Laurel elevation dress -- 2 years before they asked me. That was only because I found the world's most incredible 12th century fabric FOR FREE. When I was elevated, I wore the Fabric!

I would not have had a CLUE about my vigil if not for my wonderful and expert household. They gave me a beautiful one. Then a year later I was able to guide a friend of mine who was being knighted and didn't know how to do a vigil. So I think it's just fine to plan for "What if...?"
