4♥ COURT AND HISTORY
Describe what your court would be like: I'd have a fun court, but nothing overly extravagant. I'd much prefer the country to a fancy, city court. Horse riding, archery/hunting, and falconry would be frequent pastimes of mine. My wardrobe would be filled with simply luxurious gowns and frocks (
♥1,
♥2,
♥3,
♥4,
♥5 - basically anything that Éowyn from LOTR does or would wear is what I love), nothing too obviously decadent except for on special occasions. I'd only wear my crown (
♥) on special occasions, and substitute it with a circlet (
♥) every other time.
Who would be the main people?: I'd surround myself with intelligent friends and advisors. Since I don't have the music talent, but I adore music to no end, I'd have talented musicians in my court, especially those playing the harp or violin. The scene from Marie Antoinette where she is just sitting and listening to the music might be common; I'd love to lounge with my closest friends and soak in the magic of the songs.
What would your court be known for?: Supporting the arts - art of any kind is so special and important to me. Trying their best to ensure the happiness of all the people.
What is one thing you would do to change the kingdom?: I would clear up crime as best as possible and clean up the city so as to wipe out filth and disease. None of this "throwing the chamber pot out the window into the street" stuff!
What are your favorite historical eras?: (this is copied and pasted from my regular application) The medieval era - It's a time that I can relate to.. To me, anything post-Industrial Revolution has a sort of evil smog hovering around it. I loathe the modern rush of life and the intense noise of unnatural machinery.. Not to mention the pollution of our great Mother Earth. All I want is to go back to the years when horses were basically guaranteed instead of a luxury for the wealthy, when archery, hunting, and sword-fighting were necessary skills, when women still wore long dresses instead of walking around half-naked.. when men were chivalrous and respectful instead of discourteous and crude, when someone could fight for what they believed in.. a time when I could just take my horse and gear and go, knowing that I wouldn't run into any automobiles or other disgusting modern inventions. I just have a medieval mind-set, I guess ^_^ To make it simple, I love the simple way of life, the lack of modern technology like transportation and telephones, the architecture, the fashions, the norms of society.. My perfect world would be in the Middle Ages with indoor plumbing ^_^
I also like the fantasy aspect of the medieval era, and how so many authors and thinkers have created brilliant worlds based on this time (my two favourites being The Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia).
What places would you like to travel to?: The Emerald Isle for the beauty, folk stories/mythology, and because I'm part Irish, England because I'm an anglophile ^_^, Austria for the incredible history and music, Germany because I'm mostly German and would love to see the land of my family.. and so many other places!
Who do you admire in history?: I admire Anne Boleyn quite a bit - she was so unwavering in her quest to get what she wanted, and believed in something that wasn't very common back then. She was a determined woman in a time when most just sat back and let men rule over them. She was strong-willed and proud. And, though she didn't live to see it fulfilled, a woman - her own daughter, too! - DID rule England, and did amazingly as Anne knew would happen. Of course, I admire Elizabeth I in her own right. And Queen Victoria ^_^
Do you have a favorite story?: I have to mimic what a few other people have said, because it is so, so beautiful: the love story of Victorian and Albert.
Imagine that you were the queen of a court. Write a fictional story of a normal day in your court: My day would start early, only a little while after daybreak. After dressing, I would have a quiet, intimate, light breakfast with my family and closest friends before going to a meeting to talk over and solve any problems in my kingdom with my trusted advisors. I would take three or four hours to patrol the lands and fix anything that needs my attention, help people, and anything else within my duties as leader of my people. For the rest of the day, I'd spend time by myself reading, practicing and being trained further in swordfighting and archery (because, as Éowyn said, "the women of this country learned long ago that those without swords can still die upon them"), hunting with my beloved hunting dogs and falcons, or just riding through the lands on my precious horse. At the end of the day, I would have a dinner with my court in the dining hall before returning to my quarters to relax again before going to bed.
PERSONALITY
What are some of your positive traits?: Optimistic. Bubbly. DETERMINED! Creative. I adore affection - I'm a lover! I have a childlike view of life - I'm easily amused and almost always happy, because I appreciate the small, everyday joys in life. Good judgement of other people's character. Radiant. Intelligent. I learn quickly if something interests me; apparently, my friend tells me that I even learn quickly if something doesn't interest me.. Imagine that!
What are some of your negative traits?: I trust easily, and I forgive easily (these two could be good or bad, I guess). I'm impatient and can have a short temper if something is taking too long. It takes me a long time to make a simple decision, and a short time to make an important one. I also have a horrible, HORRIBLE memory ^_^
What are of your hobbies and interests?: sewing and historical costuming, Lord of the Rings (books, films, and everything in between), The Chronicles of Narnia (films and story line/ideas, but not the books since I dislike C.S. Lewis's writing style/syntax), nature, animals, the night sky and Lady Moon, reading and books, writing, dresses, learning/intelligence, laughing and being happy, hugs, the gods, mythology and stories, being a nerd ^_^
What are some issues that you feel passionate about? Giving support and finding a cure for my disease, Crohn's Disease... and diseases in general, since I know how tough it is to live with something that one can't control and that causes pain. Animal rights. RELIGIOUS FREEDOM.
Anything else that you would like to include about yourself: Thank you so much for reading and voting!
