My Harry Potter review/thoughts.
So I saw the movie Friday night, and overall I was pleased. I think that is was true to the book in probably the most necessary area, the rebirth of Voldemort. I really think that Harry's relationship with Dumbledore goes very neglected, however. And the one scene at the end in Harry's room is very, very rushed. Dumbledore gains a new respect for Harry in the novel version of Goblet, and I really wish that the movie would have alluded to that more.
I was talking to one of my girlfriends today who thinks that everything in the world smells of flowers and sunshine, and she was upset that the movie was so dark. She just couldn't believe it wasn't for the kids. I said, "Well, the series takes a huge turn in this book. The death of Cedric, the rebirth of Voldemort...Being dark is a necessity." She said she didn't think of them as dark! Um, what? Harry's an orphan. His parents were murdered in front of him when he was an infant. Now he has witnessed the murder of a fellow student. He was instrumental in the rise of Lord Douchebag. And if you have read any of the other books, you know it just gets worse for the poor lad.
I think I may have an addiction.
OTHER OBSERVATIONS:
1) Sirius should have been in the movie as an animagus, like he was in the book.
2) Molly Weasley should have been in the movie. Especially for her motherly presence for Harry.
3) Daniel Radcliffe does a very good job. And he's a cutie, but anyone who plays Harry Potter will have my heart.
4) Emma Watson is a pretty little lady. And anyone who plays Hermione Granger (well) has my heart.
5) Rupert Grint (see above).
6) If all Beauxbatons can show for a champion is Fleur, than the French really do suck.
7) Viktor Krum was cool.
Now I am ready for Book Seven. kthnx
