Social media is such a stupid thing. Courtney was so right.  She says we should stay the fuck offline, and honestly I've never agreed more. I feel the need to ditch it, but honestly, I enjoy the drama. I also like posting on Instagram, I like the likes and comments and the sense of admiration from my followers.

I feel like I'm fighting a one-man war against social media. I really, really hate everything about it, Facebook and Instagram in particular, but I confess to being a total hypocrite as I'm on Facebook too. The only reason for that is that most of my friends and family and my old friends from LiveJournal are all on there.

I've listed some of the many issues I have with Facebook on the the_lj_revival community's profile page. I was hoping I might be able to persuade some folk to see sense and come back to LiveJournal, but no such luck!

dude i HATE facebook. literally the only reason i have it is because im HOPING courtney might come back to it at some point and because i like to know what my family is up to. but honestly i only go on there every once in a blue moon, im mainly on discord, tumblr, and pinterest. i post on instagram A LOT less than i used to, which is good because it was like borderline an addiction at that point.

You're right: those sites are all about addiction. They're deliberately designed so as to make it almost impossible for people to tear themselves away from them. I suppose that's why so many people are still on Facebook, even though it's totally dire and it hardly even shows you any of your friends' posts any more. But if you decide to close your account, you'll most likely want to download your photos and delete your content before you do, and they make it the most gigantic, time-wasting hassle to do that. Ugh!!!
