Tease

"I wish you'd stop watching that," David said as Cook replayed the little clip of video again. It was some compilation of David from various interviews saying things that the person making the video thought were funny or cute. David didn't understand why Cook would want to watch it over and over again. It was silly, really. And also, kind of embarrassing.

They were sitting on the bus somewhere outside of Portland. Chikezie and Michael were playing cards and Jason was lying on the floor listening to his iPod, his eyes closed and his head bouncing to the unheard beat of whatever was playing. Cook was sprawled on the couch with his laptop open, his legs lying across David's lap, his face plastered with a grin as he watched the video for what had to be the fifth time in a row.

"Aw, it's so cute, though. 'The skins, dang it,'" he mocked playfully and burst into giggles. David just rolled his eyes and smirked, not bothering with another comment.

"This is my favorite part," he said as he played the part where David was interviewed during the Hollywood rounds right after singing 'Heaven' for the judges.

"That tingly feeling again . . . I only get it when I sing, I guess," David heard his own voice say and he blushed furiously but didn't say anything. It was weird to hear yourself talking, like listening to a voicemail message you'd left for someone and wondering if your voice really sounded that way.

But Cook just grinned madly, ignoring David's discomfort and playing the clip again. "My God, how do the teenaged girls not rip you apart, Archie?" he asked. "You're too freaking cute to live, I swear."

"Shut up," David mumbled, but his lips turned up in a flustered grin.

Cook looked over at the boy and saw the color rising to his cheeks, the way his eyes were drawn to his hands in his own lap. He closed the laptop and crawled over the couch, coming to rest right beside David. "Hey," he said as he touched David's cheek and the boy looked up and over at him, curiosity replacing some of his unease. "I'm only teasing you," he said softly.

"Yeah, I know, it's okay," David said and, this time, his smile looked a little more relaxed.

Cook reached down and disentangled David's hands, wrapping his own hand around one and giving it a squeeze. He brought his other hand up to turn David's head towards him and leaned in to place a soft kiss to David's lips.

David was usually embarrassed when Cook kissed him in front of the others, but this time he didn't seem to notice. He tilted his head, giving Cook a better angle, and opened his lips to the kiss. Their tongues slid against one another, their breath mingled and David actually moaned a little as Cook pinned him against the cushions that lined the back of the couch.

"Ugh, get a room," Michael groaned from the table across the bus. Chikezie just laughed and Jason remained on the floor, oblivious. The other idols had grown used to the Davids and their constant touching and kissing. Michael claimed he was sending them the bill from his dentist for all the cavities they were causing him. Cook picked up a pillow and launched it, catching Michael in the shoulder and sticking out his tongue at the older man.

David blushed shyly and buried his head against Cook's neck as he struggled to catch his breath. After a few moments had passed, he said, "I guess I lied."

"About?" Cook asked in confusion.

"Well, in that interview I said I only got that tingly feeling when I sing." He leaned up and pressed a kiss to Cook's lips, then said, "I just realized I get it other times, too."

Cook grinned and pulled David back into another searing kiss.

"If they lose their pants, we'll have to wake Spacey Jasey for the show," Michael quipped and Chikezie barked a laugh.

Cook pulled away from David, ignoring the others as he said, "You know, there's no one in the lounge." The lounge at the back of the bus had an enormous sofa. And a door. Cook waggled his eyebrows at David and the boy grinned and nodded.

Cook helped him up, taking David's hand as they walked together towards the back amid the catcalls of Michael and Chikezie. Leaning close to David's ear, Cook whispered, "I'm gonna make you tingle." And that's just what he did.
