I haven't said anything here for awhile. To be honest, I've had little desire to do so, and I'm thinking of abandoning online journaling altogether, or at least for the time being (the time being until I have a computer of my own

If you're going to get a computer, get a Mac. An older iMac would probably work for you. It won't be incredibly fast and you'll be stuck with OS 9 but it will work.
