Lucius Malfoy is a man of masks; wearing a different one to almost every person he meets. These masks show different sides to his personality.
The Businessman: He can be very charming and even sycophantic with those in power such as Lord Voldemort and Cornelius Fudge, going as far as almost bribery with the money he donates during Voldemort’s downfall.
The Bigot: He can be very prejudiced about people different to himself. This mainly includes Muggleborns and those who associate themselves with them. This also applies to the Weasley family who Lucius likes to insult though he generally only directs his offense to Arthur Weasley.
The Strict Father: He can very strict towards Draco because he has standards to which he believes his son should meet. As much as he loves and cares about him, he still berates him for being beaten at every subject by a Muggleborn.
The Husband: But when Lucius is with Narcissa, he doesn’t wear a mask. He spends his time with his wife free of anything else he feels he needs to portray or show and she is the only person who knows the real him.
Even though he has all these masks, he doesn't believe what he is doing is wrong or bad. He sees it as a means to survive, stay wealthy and keep out of Azkaban.
