Oh man, so many chills ran down my spine reading all those snippets. Well done! I both love and hate how.. Doomed their relationship is. :/
I laughed at the tag, 'dragon age is bad for my brain'. I've had difficulty working on assignments for Uni, and I swear bits and pieces of symbols and motifs have appeared in my work... >.<
I have a ridiculous fondness for doomed relationships of all sorts, so... yeah. The Anders romance in the game was pretty much perfect for me...
It really is absolutely horrible for my brain. I mean, before this game I hadn't written fanfiction in probably seven years and now all of a sudden I'm like "DRAGON AGE NEEDS FIC NOW WRITEWRITEWRITE!"
Love these. Watching Anders disintegrate is something we don't get the full scope of in-game, and I have to believe it's terribly heartbreaking to watch it happen.
Thank you! I'm of the same opinion, myself. I mean, I really wonat to know how he went from mostly-sane to "ohmygod blow shit up yes perfect!" and since the game apparently has no intentions of explaining it... well, fic was born.
These are lovely. The change to Anders is so sudden in the game, but you've captured beautifully just how terrible it must have been for Hawke to watch him fall apart over those three years.
Also, Owain. D: The Tranquil in the first game freaked me out... probably as much as they were suppoed to.
And it did feel really sudden to me, too. Part of the reason I don't really like the whole "jump ahead three years" technique they've got going on in the game. I mean, I understand (sort of) why they did it, but... yeah.
And I actually thought the Tranquil were creepier in the first game than in the second. I don't have any idea why...
I think the time jump is the reason a lot of people don't like Anders. I love him dearly, but when the third act rolls around, I find myself saying "Good god, Anders, you jerk!" to the screen an awful lot. People forget that he's just spent three years living in constant fear, watching the Templars crack down even harder on the mages, and being eaten alive by Justice. There's no way that's not going to screw someone up.
I think it was the voices. It took me forever to figure out that some of the NPCs wandering around the Gallows were Tranquil, because they spoke too normally.
I'll admit, I'm one of the Anders fans who spent a good half the game wishing there was a way to smack him upside the head. I mean, I know exactly why he's that way but... sheesh, boy, calm down a bit. Please? Though... yeah. SO much room for interpretation there, which I actually do like. It leads to things like massive amount of ficlets.
Also, your icon = wonderful.
You know, I think you're on to something there. The voices were *much* creepier in the first game.
