all i ever learned from love (was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you)
Fandom: Dragon Age II
Characters/Pairing: Fenris/F!Hawke
Rating: PG-13
Warning[s]: Um... minor violence? Nothing that's near as bad as the game itself, though, so... I think maybe one or two swear words slipped in there, as well. That one is all Isabela's fault, though. ( Read more... )

dragon age is bad for my brain, writing is hard!, fanfiction

37. Soliloquy
Every night she plans a new way to break the silence between them, practices it in front of the mirror until she has it memorized, but every morning she is met with his tense shoulders and cold eyes and the words die on her tongue.

This is my favorite, hands down. There are at least a hundred fics struggling with this ide, and you've distilled them perfectly - it never works the way it "should".

I really like how you covered the entire game arc with your sentences. :)

(Also, LOL, wanted to share: mildly freaked me out to see your title, because I just put the Wainwright version of "Hallelujah" onto a DA2 mix, except I think of it as Hawke/Anders.)

Thank you!

(And...I definitely have about four different lyrics from that song that I eventually want to use as fic titles, mostly for Hawke/Anders. I just thought this one fit pretty well even if it was Fenris. *shrug*. It's a good song...)

Oh this is GORGEOUS. And that first sentence summed up how I felt about Fenris in the beginning so much that it hurts.

Thank you!

And I think that sentence pretty much sums up why I have so much fun writing Fenris/Mage!Hawke. I mean, later on in the relationship it's all fine and whatnot but right at the beginning he hates everything Hawke is. That has got to be a bit... off-putting, to say the least, and is so much fun to play with.

Oh absolutely. And Hawke can't really bring herself to hate him right back because that hate is there through no fault of his own. I wanted to prove him in wrong but not in an "I told you so" kind of way.

Exactly. I've always seen Hawke as so determined to prove him wrong for his sake as much as her own. It's less "I told you so" and more "see how this hatred is destroying you," at least for me.
