I was trying to think of something that was similar to melancholy, but lighter. I was using downcast to mean something like having a touch of sadness. Not like a pervasive melancholy, but an element of it that you seem to carry.

ohh...I can totally see why you would want to choose a word that means that....having a touch of sadness. It's totally true. But it used to be more than a touch, so things are looking up :p
