I was sooooo close to DONE!

I really really was! 90% of the site redesign was in the bag, when I had to go and have another creative vision... sparking a second(and much better, cleaner) revision of mattpoetry. But have no fear, I've been slaving away making this new(er) site workable, and I've already re-reformatted many of the links and nearly all the pages. So what's ( Read more... )

Skinny Puppy is by no means easily accessible. I got into Skinny Puppy by listening to an "Industrial Oldies" web-radio station while playing Diablo II and Starcraft. Skinny Puppy's Assimilate would sometimes be played and, after several listens, the song evolved into something catchy. Most of the songs are abstract and, for the first several listens, sound shapeless awkward. However, it's a great payoff when the songs become a comporehensible sinister soundtrack. Oh, I also like Nivek "Ogre" Ogilvie's (lead singer) work with KMFDM; it's also usually more catchy and involves fewer distorted vocals ( ... )

Yeah, I get what you're saying about Lacuna Coil's songs sounding the same... at first I heard a little bit of that mainstream, nearly cliche goth-rock vibe, but it kind of faded as I listened more and found uniqueness in the tracks. Karmacode isn't a big evolution for the band; they still sound the same and the songs are a similar kind of catchy, but I think it works wonderfully for them. Oh, and I found out that apparently they're Italian(for some reason I thought for sure they were Swedish).
