I don't think that's cheating. The whole point of the show is to guess the prices of things based on your knowledge as a consumer. This was just part of his knowledge.
Did they let him have both showcases or did they take them from him because of this?
It's just like that guy that won a bunch of money on "Press Your Luck." The guy spent hours studying the show to know exactly how the playing board worked. I didn't think there was anything wrong with that and it made for some very entertaining game show TV. If someone wants to spend lots of time learning how to win money on a game show, I say more power to them. No different than studying how to win at cards or slot machines, you know?
