Sam surveyed the children in front of him. Dean, all three and a half feet of him, was sitting calmly at the kitchen table, his legs swinging as he munched toast, while Cas was practically vibrating with excitement and had hardly touched his breakfast. It was the first day of school for the two five year old boys, a mere five months after an accident with a cursed school bus, had left them a whole lot younger than they'd been before. So far Sam hadn't found a reversal for it, he had others working on it while he focused on caring for them, but he was starting to lose hope of ever finding a cure - and, if he were perfectly honest, the desire to find one ( ... )

Dean started sulking; for some reason Dean was a bigger cock-block as a five year old than he ever had been as an adult. He was possessive of Sam's attention and didn't want his brother to date. To be fair his worries had been well-founded when a date of Sam's, a precious night away from the little ones (Charlie babysat) with a woman he met on the internet, had gone badly when she turned out to be a witch seeking revenge... but that was one singular date. It was the first one Sam had been on in ages and didn't he deserve that much at least ( ... )

At 2pm, an hour earlier than the other children got out, the kindergarten class let their captives free. Two dozen little balls of excitement rushed out of the room into the yard where parents were already milling around ( ... )

Oh, this was awesome! I feel bad that it took me so long to comment on it. I read it this morning right before work, and then never had a chance to come back and say anything about it.

But I loved the way you wrote it -- Cas's enthusiasm and excitement about everything, and Dean being a little more reserved and quiet. And their personalities, that are just a little bit more adult than regular kids. I can just imagine Cas rambling on and on about all the things he knows. And “Old fashioned salt 'n burn prolly.”? Probably my new favorite sentence. Little five-year-old Dean planning hunting strategies. Awwww.

...I kind of want to see more of these guys. (psst! What if maybe one night there's a really bad thunderstorm, and Dean is maybe a little scared, but he'll never admit it?) :D

Anyway, great job! Loved it!

Glad you enjoyed it, there's something super cute about de-aged Winchesters, and of course Cas being a loveable little weirdo. <3 <3 <3
