Summary: A playlist for At Second Sight and Luke Mallory's life in general

1. Boston by Augustana - The obvious reason I picked this is because Luke is from Boston, which I think is a big part of his character. The deeper reason is the strong sense of isolation throughout the song. The lyrics are basically about how the singer thinks no one cares and he just wants to move away and start over and that's exactly what Luke wants.

2. In My Room by The Beach Boys - Again, this song has a strong sense of isolation and wanting a place of your own. Brian Wilson was known to hide out in his room and I can see Luke relating to that.

3. Outside by Staind - Luke sees himself as an outsider, looking in, like the song says. Also, the singer sees the true nature inside people that they are trying to hide. I think Luke is very perceptive, he can see what other people are really like.

4. Walk Away (Maybe) by Good Charlotte - This song is about being so scared that you don't want to try, you'd rather just give up and walk away. I think Luke has reached that point, at least in certain aspects.

5. Drive by Incubus - This song is about feeling uncertain, but not letting fear take control of your life. The singer is basically saying the important thing is to just be around to see what tomorrow brings and try to embrace change. I think Luke could use this reminder, honestly.

6. I Don't Get it Anymore (Bathroom Sessions) by BNL - I think Luke relates to the feeling of being lost and not understanding what's going on. There's definitely a double meaning to this song, and they could have changed for the positive and I think Luke changes throughout his journey.

7. Grifter (Instrumental) by 311 - Maybe it's just the title, but this song makes me think about people who might be up to no good. Although Luke is definitely very straight laced, I think he's looking for change and adventure. Also, this song just makes me think about things being incomplete (especially the lyrics of Long for the Flowers, the remake of this) and Luke views life as a journey.

8. Kids by MGMT - This is definitely a statement song about the innocence of childhood fading away and only taking what you need from the world. I think Luke can relate to both of these, especially the sentiment that life is harder than you ever imagined.

9. For What It's Worth by Buffalo Springfield - The classic protest song. Luke is definitely the kind of person to want to change the world and call attention to his hot button issues. Luke notices how crazy the world is, even when everyone else just ignores it.

10. Prelude/ Angry Young Man by Billy Joel - When I was looking around for angsty teenager songs, I realized a lot of them are just negative. Luke isn't really angry, he just has his plans for life. I think this song addresses that because Billy Joel - and Luke - realizes that being angry is pointless because the angry young man will never change. There's also a part about how his intentions are good, like Luke.

11. Holiday by Green Day - To me, this song is really sarcastic. It seems to be about war and change, but the line "on holiday" just throws it off. Instead of real change, people would rather just take a vacation. I think Luke notices how hypocritical people can be.

12. Mr. Me by They Might Be Giants - I wanted to include a lighter song. It's basically a warning about not taking things too seriously and not trying to solves all of life's mysteries. They sing about how you have to enjoy life or else you'll end up "really sad." Again, I think Luke could use a reminder about this in his life.

13. Photograph by Weezer - This song is an obvious choice. It's about how everyone has a dream and "it's in the photograph." Luke's dream is literally to take pictures, so it's perfect.
