Summary: Kivi the Clown tries to cheer up.
Kivi stared at the mirror, wiping the makeup slowly off his face. The thick cream took forever to come off. He kept wiping, this was just part of the job. His phone rang loudly, breaking the silence in the empty room. It was Harper. “Yeah?” His voice was thick, nearly unrecognizable.
“How was your show?”
He wanted to be excited. This was what he had wanted to do since he was a little kid. He’d always loved being the center of attention. He’d started to learn magic when he was six, did his first open mic when he was nine. He loved being on stage. “It was great,” he choked out.
“What did the audience think?” He could practically hear her smiling.
“Yeah, they loved it.”
“What is it, Kivi? You sound upset?”
He sighed. Was it that obvious? He shook his head, looking straight at the mirror for a long moment. His big red smile was smeared, his blue triangle eyes looked upset.This is what he had gone to school for. When had he lost his passion? “I think I’m just feeling off. I guess I miss you. I love you, babe.”
“Don’t worry, Kiv, you know I love you too. I’ll be back soon. Keep your chin up. You have to be happy to cheer other people up. That is your job after all.”
Just talking to her always made him feel better. “Yeah, and I love it.”
