In a city full of bright lights
you missed all the sights
the scene is bright and busy
spinning around til you’re dizzy
now it’s become an emergency
see it up there on the marquee
you’re out cold, lying in the street
you feel it now, the loss is complete
they take you to the hospital
when did you become so brittle
one scan and the truth is told
they see the injuries new and old
through the walls that you’ve built
all the way down to your old guilt
broken bits fly through your chest
all that’s left over after the test
things that were thrown til you erupt
but the treasure’s still locked shut
you gave up and threw away the key
still caught up with what could be
they take you to a treatment room
might as well be to your tomb
because though they rip and sew
they can’t fix what they already know
the truth is that you’re still alone
all the way down to the bone<\lj-cut>
