The first 2 Die Hard movies are a must for good action fans due to the way it was paced and the fact that it felt that McClane just managed to survive instead of wade through the villains of the movies.

The 3rd movie was a bit too disjointed I found and the 4th was a shadow of the series (I blame PG-13 ratings and people who do not understand the appeal of the series)

Agreed. Also the addition of getting more convoluted plots by the villains was annoying.
