*hugs* Cheer up. There will come a time when the Supreme Court of California overturns it as unconstitutional. You're right to be sad the unwashed masses are stupid enough to believe it to be a good proposition, but I believe it'll be brought before the courts pretty fast.

They already overturned the law. This is a Constitutional Amendment. They cant' declare an amendment Un-constitutional. Its, errr...part of the constitution. We'll have to vote to overturn it/amend it. Someday.

I really hate that the evangelicals are the only portion of the population that really has the money to throw at issues like this.

Yes, actually they can. It happened in 1990 over a criminal law amendment. The current lawsuit is here http://www.aclu.org/lgbt/relationships/37706prs20081105.html Looks like there's some grounds - apparantly the 50% majority by initiative version of modifying the state constitution is only supposed to allow for a certain degree of change, and they're arguing that this is so drastic a one that it should qualify as a "revision" instead, which requires a more difficult process and the involvement of the Legislature. I hope it works, but am not optomistic.
