I don't think I could live in the Boston area if the Charles River wasn't there. I need to be near water, for my sanity. I work near one portion of the Charles and currently live near another part of the river. As long as I can remember, though, it's been horribly polluted (like most, if not all urban rivers.) OMG, to have a river nearby would be great... and to have one that was swimmable, even greater! Water is the one thing lacking where I live. I have to live vicariously through my LJ friends. ;-)

You have other pretty scenery though. I do love the river, and the nearby ocean.

For several years people have been swimming in the Hudson. I hope someday the Charles will come back too.
