Herons galore!

Jun 19, 2007 09:49

This morning I saw at least one, maybe two Great Blue herons on the river. And then I saw four Night-Crowned herons. I've never seen more than one of those birds at a time, so seeing four of them, each standing on rocks looking at the water (for fish no doubt) was breathtaking.

The river is certainly giving me nice going-away presents.

I've been looking into it - through web sites and maps. While nature will no longer literally be in my back yard, it looks like I'm walking distance (probably 15 minutes) from Spy Pond, and possibly a shorter walk (10 minutes?) to the Mystic River. Plus I was reading that since the land around Alewife Brook (which is close to my new location) have been "neglected" they've become a haven for wildlife.

I would be delighted to come visit. What's the current estimate for MC's completion?
