To boldly go where no SF television show has gone before

Last night sophiaserpentia and I watched episode 12 of Torchwood. The episode aptly titled "Jack Harkness". Yeah, that episode (for those of you in the know.) Wow, what a fabulous episode - great story line, intriguing unresolved plot detail, and OMG! OMG! OMG!

spoilers here, lj-cut for anyone who hasn't seen this episode yet and plans to someday )

We are SO hooked on Torchwood. I love it that Jack is any gendered, and a hunk. Yeh, I was wondering how the actors pulled that one off. Adore the BBC!

Also liking Journeyman that comes on right afterward (I think). Oh boy!

Jack and Ianto? Huh? Did I miss an episode? 'Coz last I knew, Ianto was still mourning over his dead borg girlfriend Lisa. Not that he can't be bi, but I don't remember an episode with Jack and him. . . . ?

It was just a sentence or two at the end of one of the episodes (I don't remember which one) which strongly implied Jack and Ianto are more than just friends. It was a funny exchange too, alluding to them doing something kinky involving a timer. I'm guessing there's probably lots of fanfic devoted to that! And the Jack/Ianto pairing was reinforced in this most recent episode: while Owen and Ianto are fighting over whether to use the Rift machine, Owen makes some snide remark about Ianto and Jack's relationship.

I loved this episode, but found it hard to accept that original Captain Jack would throw social convention to the winds so publically. It totally worked from our Captain Jack's viewpoint though and rounded out his character very well.

I completely agree with you. It would have been much more believable if that scene between them had happened privately. Instead, one gets the impression the original Captain Jack is thinking "wtf, I'm going to die tomorrow anyway!" and presumably he wouldn't know that.

i think he knew somehow, maybe from bits of conversation that we were not party to, that he would truly die tomorrow and this was his only chance to do what he dreamed of/longed to do.

See sophiaserpentia's comment below. She explains the lack of logic in that scene!

Hehe, it was like,

"Oh, good, they do get to... kiss... after all..."
::raises eyebrow::
"They're still kissing."
::raises both eyebrows::
"They're STILL kissing!"

It was a hell of a kiss. There was kind of an otherworldly feel to the ending, too, where the original Captain Jack salutes him as he steps into the rift, as if things were happening on a different 'level' from the concretely real.

Is this Season 1 eps 12? I so loved Torchwood. I downloaded it last year. It was good! Is there a Season 2 available? I am so hooked!

Yes, that was season 1, episode 12! :-)

Season 2 of Tochwood will be airing in the UK and in the US starting sometime in January 2008 (so, really soon!) I don't know the exact timing but it's coming soon! (Whereas we in the US had to wait a really long time for season 1 unless we could download the eps.)

It seemed like a much longer time has passed since I saw season 1. I guess not. Yeah, down loading rocks. It also helps me watch shows in order. I like to watch the eps in order. (OCD issues) I also am watching Bad Girls, I just finished season 7. Here I think they are still on season 3. In the UK I know that Season 8 is finished but I have not heard any more after that.
Do you watch Dr Who? The new Dr Who? I wonder when the next season is going to be aired in the UK. We are behind in that as well. I love that too. *grins*

Torchwood season 1 aired in the UK a long time ago, but we're just now getting it here in the US. I wasn't sure we'd ever get it here.

I love the new Doctor Who! I'm not sure when the new season airs but I know they're getting another Christmas special which will be airing in the UK on Christmas day, so you should be able to download that soon after.
