Albino squirrel!

I saw an albino squirrel in the tree outside my kitchen window today. And I managed to get pics of it.

EDIT to add: or it might be a white squirrel. pasticcio googled and found out such a critter exists. And from my pic it looks like it probably didn't have red eyes. Either way it's something I don't often see.

Yes! I've only ever seen one other -- there was an albino squirrel I used to see regularly in my old neighborhood (two neighborhoods ago) but I never had my camera handy when I saw it!

Did it have red eyes?

I couldn't tell from that distance (we have those photos thanks to 4x optical zooom) and I can't tell in the photos if it has red eyes. I'd wondered that too. :-)

I google'd white squirrels and apparently there is such a thing but they have brown eyes .. albinos have red eyes. Whether it was white or albino it was still very cool though!

The quick eye was actually SEEING the white squirrel. The fun part was getting the photos. My view of the squirrels was blocked by leaves on the trees. So I had to stand there with my camera focused and wait for the split second that the WIND blew the leaves to reveal the squirrels, and then go click! Luckily I was taking this from a great distance and through a closed window. Up close, the animals would have realized what I was doing, and wouldn't have held still. I've taken so many photos of animals' rear ends as the camera-shy critters flee! :-)

Yeah. White squirrels seem to be pretty rare. :-)
