I had an emotional connection to Cedric cause I thought he was hot. However, I thought that from the movie standpoint Harry's crying over Cedric's body was a bit out of character, because, as you said, there was no emotional connection there.
I totally agree with you. There was hardly interaction, and the bits that were there did not further the characters at all. And I was seriously disturbed by the lack of classroom work. True, PoA lacked it to some extent as well, but it's the one thing that I'm really starting to miss.
myself, i'm more of a victor krum gal. sure, there's no light at the end of the staircase, but, oh, what a staircase it is. and it wasn't like i was planning doing much intellectual activity with him anyways. he's just a piece of good ole gruff, athletic, manly man candy.
oh yeah, and emma watson was not so great in the scene where "mad eye moody" (in quotes for a reason, people) showed them the three unforgivable curses. and in some others, but i can't exactly remember the details.
I liked it. Sure, they did skip a lot of stuff but it wasn't like in POA where they skipped a lot of IMPORTANT stuff. And it didn't feel as rushed as POA, either. Maybe it wasn't a big step forward but at least it wasn't a step backward.
Begging your pardon, but: They didn't skip IMPORTANT stuff? How about the Mad-Eye Moody/Barty Crouch explanation? Anyone who hadn't read the books would be completely lost. What happened at the Quiddich Cup was never explained, not to mention the whole Hagrid/Madame Maxime relationship. The significance of the Dark Mark, the full explanation of Pensieve, the relationship between Cho/Cedric, anything involving the Malfoys, wtf happened in the first scene of the movie...all were lost, flushed down the drain.
And it didn't feel as rushed to you? I'm sorry, suddenly a carriage and a boat appeared without any explanation whatsoever, and then the time between the second and third tasks didn't exist at all. Plus, all these directors really need to learn that climaxes are not the time to start rushing through material. And, (as far as I remember), the Sirius/Remus/James/Peter relationship actually was explained in PoA, whereas, as I said before, Moody/Barty wasn't explained in GoF.
True, but at least it explained wtf Sirius was doing out of Azkaban! GoF was like, oh, yeah, guess he escaped from Azkaban instead of faking his own death and all that shit. Why's he drinking from that flask? Who cares! Why does he hate the Imperius Curse so much? Oh wait, does he? Why was Crouch knocked out in the forest? Who the bloody hell knows!
There were no veela, Krum and Fleur barely ever spoke, Alan Rickman and Maggie Smith were virtually gone, Harry's name in the Goblet...the list goes on and on.
And anyone who didn't know that the Pensieve was memories would have thought that scene was Harry Potter on acid. Take that, son.

1) No character or inter-character development at all. You hardly ever see any of the characters interact ( ... )

Besides, POA never said that Sirius, Remus, et al were responsible for the Marauder's Map. I win.
