Physics is Phun: Now in Color

Mar 10, 2008 11:20

Well, it is, because that's the topic this time: the physics of color; the mixing of colors in light; color filters and the spectrum; how we see, print, and display color; and even how to trick our eyes into seeing colors that aren't there.

The official details are here, but the basics: we're doing a public lecture and demonstrations presentation, repeating for three evenings. It's an entry-level introduction to the topic, for general audiences.
The program runs Thursday, March 13th; Friday, March 14th; and Saturday, March15th, at 7PM each night (same show each night).

We're also hunting for volunteers to help out with some hands-on demonstrations before the show. If you're interested in helping out for a few hours, we need volunteers to come at 5:45 or so each evening to eat pizza & get trained on one of the pre-show demonstration gadgets, then show it off to the audience as they come in and look around before the lecture starts.

If you're interested in volunteering, sign up with the office at 301-405-5949 to let us know you're coming, so we order enough pizza. We'd love to have you, and it really doesn't take a special technical background, just a curiosity about how the world works and a willingness to tell other people about it.

This particular show feels special, as it's dedicated to Dan, a friend of mine and longtime technician & stagecrew here, who passed away this weekend.

So, if you're interested, come check it out! It's even fun, when we can spell.
