ooh, I saw one of these the other night at Annual Sessions.

Are there any good spots around here where the light pollution is lower?

Not a lot. There might be a few spots on the UMD camps (ie near the observatory) that aren't too bad, but they aren't great... or maybe near Greenbelt... but I suspect the only decent viewing is going to be inconveniently distant (the Patuxent, western Frederick County, etc).
My plan is just to stand around outside in some convenient open space and hope, I guess.
