Yes... when I use a high powered fill-flash in strong sunlight it seems to really bring out not only the colorful subject, but the sky is rendered a deep blue. Without the fill-flash, the sky is pale. I like it!

Thanks! By using fill-flash and the 17mm digital lens setting, the sky turned out dark blue... a nice offset to the yellow plane. Though if you look closely, you'll see that I did not "paint" the sky in PS since the sky in the lower-right is a paler blue (an effect of the wide-angle lens). I did bump the contrast and blue up one notch each in the Nikon software, however ;)
Thanks... though I need to come out your way and try photographing some of the great historical sites that you capture so well. As for this photo, several bystanders photographing this plane smiled at me as I got down on the grass (next to the wheel) and shot upwards. Oh well, at least I didn't get all the air show clutter in the background :) I know you feel the same way, as your shots are always artistically composed and clean.
