The wildfires in Arizona burn, and New Mexico's Rio Grande Valley is filled with smoke. But I'm east of there, and up high, high, high in the Sangre de Cristo mountains. I'm outside the town of Pecos, east and a bit south of Santa Fe. I'm home now, finally, after months of no job and nowhere to live. I belong on this mountaintop near Pecos ( Read more... )

I'm glad you've found your aerie. I love that part of the country precisely because changes and rains come so rarely.

descriptions painted almost as clear as being there. wish i could go to santa fe. deliberating on whether or not to push farther west next week and head into new mex & arizona.

I'd have welcomed you...

...but briefly. I cherish the solitude that the Pecos-Terrero area (I don't live right in Santa Fe) gives me.
