Wow. I loved this. And I loved reading your notes at the end, because I got some those things from reading the fic, and you're right: feminism isn't dead *waves banner*.

So, what I was thinking while I was reading was: Yes, it is interesting dealing with how Hollywood looks from a female actor's perspective, I like the Bechdel test - love that E knows what it is and Ari's response, hey a nod to Emile Hirsch, wiki'ed La Malinche which is an awesome bit of history (here in Denmark we don't have five minutes of Mexican history, you see. And a sidenote: of course she's been nicknamed La Chingada - misogyny, so predictable), would be a great role for girl!Vin - of course she would want it, it's interesting how completely the gender reversal changes Vin's attitude (or rather, the way we perceive it) and the power dynamics between E and her, I like that you didn't have them end up together, that they're caught in this "next boy/girl" limbo, and finally - on a completely superficial note: Your girl!Vince is one sexy beast :D

I kinda just want to live in this comment forever, because all the things I was worried about the reader not getting, you got. So yay!

The power dynamics between E and Vin were definitely the most fun to play around with (though the boys already have an interesting dynamic!), but Ari's change in how he dealt with Vin was also intriguing. Weirdly, I think Walsh would be the one who least changed in how he interacted with Vin, because he would still see her as A Serious Artist. And much as I hate Billy, I admit he and his projects bring out the more thoughtful, intelligent side of Vince.

As for E and Vin getting together, I really wanted them to, but ultimately couldn't. It was the damn power dynamics. *sigh*

Anyway, thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm glad this worked for, and I'm glad you liked my author notes. (I always enjoy extensive author notes myself, *g*).

And of course girl!Vince is sexy; regular Vince is, by most reasonable and objective observers, one of the most attractive people on the planet. Hee.

really liked, sequel?

Probably not. Any sequel would likely be 7000 words of me trying (and failing) to get them to admit their undying love for each other, or 2000 more words of angst.

But we'll see if the muse stops by with an idea.

But thank you for reading! Glad you liked!

I liked the style of this and Vince as a girl of course. I thought that the relationsip would be consumated at the end. The little bit of melancholy and bittersweetness worked for me.

Glad it worked for you! (And that you liked the style; the style was what I was most nervous about.)

And I have the worst time making characters consummate their relationships. *sigh*

Sounds like my lovelife too.
Girl-Vin could never get rid of Billy Walsh.

Heh. You're probably right about Billy. Thanks for reading.

Just thought I'd mention that I still love this, still think it's brilliant and basically exactly captures E and Vince's relationship while pointing out that if Vince were a woman he'd be slut shamed and given access to a paltry market of leading lady rolls and mostly relegated to love interest rolls on account of being pretty.
