The JVC (Jewish Volunteer Connection) in Baltimore (ok, Pikesville, if you want to get technical) organizes a Mitzvah Day project for Christmas Day each year

Do you have to knit them yourself or can you just buy them and donate?

Not sure... the website isn't clear whether they're specifically only looking for handmade or not. I *think* there was a phone number to call... I was going to say "ask me at faire", but I don't know if that Karen will be there or not, what with the holiday and all (there's a chance she'll be there tomorrow, but not Sunday... this is the Karen who brings those delicious chocolate chip pumpkin bread/cake treats specifically for Rosh Hoshannah to faire every year (and sells CDs for Cercamon), not the other Karen with the pumpkin pies).
