Hola ya'll! Here's the second week of the photography class I did. But before we start, I want to list my awesome scores for the last term

The hay bales photo for "rhythm" works well. They have a rhythm to their placement that the regular patterns (like you have for "pattern") don't; irregularities that still lead to a kind of order. Syncopation. Rhythm is boring if it's one-two-one-two all the way (unlike pattern, which is meant to be that way). Also, the tree on the overlook is wonderful for space.
And yes, that's a fail for variety. Come on, all the elements in each of the two photos are the same! Sure, each flower is an individual precious snowflake, but that's not usually what people mean by variety when they're standing in front of a line of blonde-haired blue-eyed men all exactly 5'11". If you want to convey the individuality, you have to do more. And I'm probably conflating individuality and variety here, but I'm sure you get it.
Ooh you think the bales work? I was really nervous about that picture originally when I took the course, and the reviews on that shot were rather mixed. But I agree--actually, the thing that was confusing me about rhythm and pattern is the way I was reading it. Meaning, I thought it was an alternating pattern or a pattern with flow. But that's still a pattern, isn't it?
One student described rhythm much like you did, and that works for me. <3
And yeah, I totally bombed variety. That one was a general consensus among the people who critiqued me as well. xD I'm not sure what I was thinking... but looking back on the fail again, I may try to do some better pictures for it. There's lots of potential in trying to capture variety. :)
- as a couple, I like the Rhythm ones best (you say you had a hard time with it but I think as a theme you've done an outstanding job - this is how I 'see' rhythm, so good job translating the theme to visuals (others like shape or pattern are obvious as they are visible/physical attributes of course)) - the tire is amazing, esp the gravel/pebbles/whatever; I like the light and contrast, it's mysterious-like even though it's just a tire - the second Texture - more amazing (that's one pretty pretty macro...*envy* I so very rarely manage a good macro) - second Unity one is a beauty - very professional looking at that. (I admit I stole it for my collection of pretty pics ;))
Looking forward to the rest of the amazing-Cozz-pics!
YAY! I'm glad you liked rhythm--it was one that I struggled on, so the fact that I succeeded in the end is awesome. <3 The students who critiqued me seemed to feel I did good as well, so more yay!
Also, you like the tire? That's so interesting! I actually didn't like it at all, lol! But that's the way it goes, sometimes. ^^;
Macro is indeed difficult--to get a good one, you need a tripod, although with this shot I got lucky and just took it kneeling in front of the moss. I think that eventually, I'm going to invest in a real camera with interchangable lenses and a wide-angle/close-up lens. Because doing in this? I REALLY LOVE CLOSE UP PHOTOGRAPHY. xDDD
Glad you liked the second unity!! That's actually one of my favorites. :3 Feel free to take any you like, darling!
