Ah yes, this piece is obviously playing on the term, "wearing nothing but a smile". But its placement in the dental office suggests dental hygine is GOOD, buuut. It in fact is propoganda from the Bush administration.
How you ask?
First of all, a child going to the dentist will be creeped out by the sign upon their visit. Scaring them from dental hygine for the rest of their lives.
Secondly, when this child, now an adult, is asked if he wants to, let's say, go into the jacuzzi wearing nothing but a smile... images of that sign and creepy lipstick orgies come back into his mind. As a second failsafe, he recalls he has extreme tooth decay, as a result of the negative reinforcement of that sign, and would not feel comfortable wearing just that.
