Not only am I going to keep up with listing the books I read this year. I am writing up a quick impression of each as I finish it, and preserving it in what will be one honkin' huge Word file. It's January 11, and there are already three books down. There will probably be four by the end of the week, since I am now onto Shakespeare's "Midsummer ( Read more... )

Excellent. Thank you for the leads. I think I know what that B&N gift card I got for Christmas will be going toward.

I'm looking for that fine balance between an accurate translation, and a readable translation, instead of some godawful stilted transliteration. It's a difficult thing to find (I have one version of Rousseau's "Emile" that is not only readable, but enjoyable. Another version that I picked up at a Grad Student booksale, painfully stiff).

And hooray for Alton Brown!
